Professional Experience
Ron Roome has been a litigation partner in the firm since 1994 and a member of the firm since 1988. Prior to joining Karnopp Petersen, Ron practiced for a well respected law firm in San Francisco. He was admitted to practice in California in 1982 and Oregon in 1988. Ron's practice focuses on general civil and commercial litigation, employment law, plaintiff's personal injury and wrongful death claims, and insurance law.
Ron regularly appears in court proceedings on behalf of clients. For many years he worked as an insurance defense attorney, representing people who were sued for damages. Now Ron's focus as a civil dispute litigator and trial attorney has him representing a wide variety of both corporate clients and individuals. This includes plaintiffs who are injured or suffer harm. Ron also serves as an arbitrator and mediator in a variety of civil claims.
Professional & Community Activities
Ron's dedication and leadership strengths have led him to serve as President of J.R. Campbell American Inns of Court (2002-2003) and as President of the Deschutes County Bar Association (1997-1998). Additionally he is a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyer’s Association, a member of the Oregon State Bar Disciplinary Board, a member of the Judge Pro Tem Screening Committee and past member of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel and Oregon State Bar Civil Procedure and Practice Committee. Ron serves as an Arbitrator in the Deschutes County Court mandatory arbitration program and for the Arbitration Service of Portland, Inc. He also serves as a private arbitrator and mediator on general civil claims and motor vehicle accident and personal injury claims. Ron is a member of both the Oregon and California Bar Associations.
